About Blue Dot Swing – Austin’s Jazz Manouche Trio
Blue Dot Swing is a jazz band deeply rooted in the traditions and styles pioneered by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club de France. This trio is comprised of seasoned Austin musicians, each bringing their unique talents and years of experience to the group.
Bringing Gypsy Jazz to Austin
Founded by Will Dickerson, Jacob Harrell, and Phil Spencer, Blue Dot Swing is a project that introduces Austin audiences to the vibrant sounds of jazz manouche. Inspired by the swinging rhythms and virtuosic melodies of Django Reinhardt, the band blends authentic tradition with modern creativity.

Meet the Musicians
Will Dickerson has spent significant time in France and in Montreal studying the jazz manouche genre. His time spent performing in the cafes of Paris allowed him to immerse himself in the music and learn from modern virtuosos. Will has given back by teaching workshops at "Django in June,” an annual gathering of gypsy jazz artists.
Born and raised in Austin, Jacob Harrell has spent over a decade playing music all over town and in the surrounding Texas Hill Country. After studying music at ACC, Jacob decided to pursue it professionally and even produced projects of his own. You might recognize him from fellow Austin jazz band Rent Party, with whom he also performs.
Phil Spencer is an accomplished bassist with a degree in music performance from the University of Northern Colorado. A dedicated performer and teacher, he has been grooving on both electric and upright bass since 2002.
